A late 18th century rare and highly sought after lead figure attributed by Van Nost. Van Nost was famously known to furnish with sculpture some of the most important gardens in the country including Hampton Court, Buckingham Palace, Castle Howard and Wrest Park. The quality of casting and chiselling on this extremely rare piece would certainly suggest an attribution to Van Nost and of the other suppliers of lead in the 18th century, including John Cheere, and Andrew Carpente.
