A large cast iron urn in the form of the Warwick Vase on an antique cast iron plinth, after the antique popularised by 18th century collectors.
Attributed to the Handyside Foundry, as illustrated in their catalogue.

English, circa 1850.

Notes: The Warwick Vase was excavated from Hadrian's Villa at Tivoli in 1771 by Gavin Hamilton and dates to the second century AD. Hamilton sold the vase to his nephew the 2nd Earl of Warwick.
