Stamped Coade London 1820.
A rare and most wonderful Royal Coat of Arms of George IV in quite excellent condition.
With the lion & unicorn couchant it would suit placing in a pediment or a large wall.
The coat of arms is inscribed with the motto of the British chivalric Order of the Garter.
HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
Provenance: Purchased from a private estate in Dorset from a relative of the Walmesley family. Originally belonging to the Walmesley family that owned Westwood & Inglewood Estates.
An early 19th century illustration of the Coade factory depicts a coat of arms over their entranceway which is strikingly similar to the present arms.
Beautiful colouration and detailing.
